The festival had an incredible photo gallery set
up. I absolutely love doing my one-second impression of Jerry Lewis, “Hello,
lady!” One
of the first things I ever did in front of a camera was one of
Jerry’s famous Labor Day telethons for Muscular Dystrophy, when my parents
hosted the New York portion of the show.
Every time I see an image of Jerry
I feel particularly close to him because I met him as a young boy and I’ve
enjoyed seeing his movies since then, so here I am hamming it up in front of
a photograph of a legend – what are you gonna do?

Toast, I suppose? I think the film canisters behind the food table would
have been slightly more edible than this particular fare, not because the
food wasn’t good, but I got to the party a little late and I think it had
"turned" by then.
Not
to be daunted, I did get a little bit of food. I was absolutely starving,
yet so excited to be meeting so many different people and I didn’t want to
miss out on the opportunity to meet anyone, but I was starting to get more
and more dizzy and faint. I had thrown the camera to Jennifer Candy and
asked her to take a bunch of candid pictures so I could put them on my
website, so she was taking them, and I thought the flower seemed to be more
interesting than the food, and I knew my
daughter
would like it if there was a picture of me smelling a flower . . .
